A Bishop, a Blessing and a Rowan Tree

Following a series of deaths within the community under tragic circumstances over the last 14 months, the Bishop of Bath and Wells came to give a blessing on the town and to bless a rowan tree at the Market Cross that will be used, along with a memorial stone, for people to leave tributes.

The Glastonbury Unity Candle was a focussing point. The Vicar of Glastonbury mentioned that only a few years ago, the Church wouldn't feel comfortable, or even welcomed, in doing something in the centre of the town.

Due to the work of the Unity Candle, in reminding us all to work towards offering respect and honour to different beliefs, and to support people in their freedom to express them, they felt comfortable doing this yesterday.
