Tim Saurwein
Tim plays didgeridoo, percussion, and sings with the band, KIVA. He started singing in the chorus and playing the tuba in the band in high school. He began exploring the didgeridoo in 1999. Tim has been greatly influenced by Graham Wiggins, didg player for the groups Dr. Didg and Outback, and by Ash Dargan, the Australian master didg artist.
With his wife Dee, they share their life and times, in Glastonbury and Greenbelt, Maryland USA
Tim’s 32 year career as an electrical engineer for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center involved working with astronauts, cosmologists and planetary scientists to design and build spacecraft furthering our understanding of the universe in which we live. Tim retired from Goddard in 2015 and headed to MIT for 3 years to build and test the TESS exoplanet telescope for NASA, performing an all-sky survey for planets around other nearby stars (approx. within 100 light-years). Launched in 2018, TESS’s two-year mission completed this past summer and its mission is extended for additional observations.
