RITCHIE OSBORNE
Unity Candle Ambassador
Ritchie joined the Unity Candle Ambassador team in February 2022. Here he tells us about himself, his connection to Glastonbury and what the Unity Candle means to him.
Can you tell us about your connection to Glastonbury?
I visited Glastonbury for the first time two years ago. I instantly felt a draw to the countryside and the energies in the surrounding area. I love the Chalice Well Gardens and the White Spring. I visited Glastonbury Abbey in my last visit and felt so peaceful in the grounds. It's a very special place.
When did you first become aware of the Glastonbury Unity Candle?
December 2020. I was watching the virtual Winter Solstice event and found the Glastonbury Unity Candle page.
Have you had any special experiences with the Unity Candle that you can share with us?
When I was having a difficult time last year, the light and healing from the candle family helped me carry on day after day. I am so grateful to everyone for giving me the strength to carry on.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I live in the South East of England by the sea and with the beautiful rolling South Down hills all around. I'm a teacher by day, which is one of the most rewarding (and exhausting) job I have ever done. The loves of my life are my husband of 7 years and our two rescue cats, who will no doubt make an appearance one evening on the stream as they like to be centre of attention.
What does the Candle personally mean to you?
Hope in the darkest of times. It may be a cliché, but the darkest time is just before the light returns. Knowing I am spending those precious moments of calm with like-minded people connected around the globe is one of the precious moments in my day.
Can you tell us a little about your special interests?
I have a passion for ancient history, myths and visiting historic sites. The theatre is a big passion of mine; I studied theatre at University. I particularly enjoy Shakespeare. A few years ago, I returned to reading the Cards (which I started when I was 13 years old) and met an amazing group of on-line friends during the lock-downs through this. I have learned a lot about myself in this time and now enjoy working with crystals, dowsing and shamanic journeying on a regular basis.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am addicted to salad cream. I have to have it on almost every dish I eat.
What does being an Ambassador and hosting the Silent Minute mean to you?
Having the chance to give something back to this lovely community. I hope that some of the readings and conversations we have will help people in some way.
Do you have a website?
Not a website, but I do have a You Tube tarot channel.
