ANNE E. CURRIE
Unity Candle Ambassador
Annie joined the Unity Candle Ambassador team in July 2021. Here she tells us about herself, her connection to Glastonbury and what the Unity Candle means to her.
Can you tell us about your connection to Glastonbury?
I first visited Glastonbury in September 2015. I was open minded but prepared to be disappointed as I had been by some other well-known places. At my first glimpse of the Tor my stomach flipped and I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I was twisting and turning in my seat to keep it in sight. (Luckily I wasn’t driving!). It was a very happy and emotional visit for me. Every time that I return to Glastonbury it feels like my spiritual home.
When did you first become aware of the Glastonbury Unity Candle?
June 2020. I was missing my regular trips to Glastonbury and found the Facebook page.
Have you had any special experiences with the Unity Candle that you can share with us?
The very first live stream I joined was hosted by Joanne [Mudhar]. I loved the way that everyone tuning in was not only made welcome but greeted by name and made to feel part of a worldwide community. It was so important at that time during lockdown and still is now.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
II was brought up on the edge of Dartmoor and now live in the North Wales hills, which I love. I have degrees from the University of St. Andrews ( Where I met my husband) and the University of Manchester. I worked as a doctor in allopathic medicine but am interested in all forms of healing and am trained in several, including being a Reiki Master/Teacher.
What does the Candle personally mean to you?
Hope, Unity and Peace. A light in the dark times to illuminate our way and help us home. The live streams are a special moment in the day when I can come together with like minded souls for the benefit of all and for the planet. I was honoured to have been invited to be a Candle Ambassador and love to be able to connect to others with similar beliefs and interests. I’ve seen nothing but love and support on the Candle pages which is wonderful.
Where in the world are you live-steaming from?
The North Wales hills, in rural Denbighshire. I live in a 450 year old farmhouse. There is a huge amount of history in the area and a massive ritual landscape which is largely unexplored.
Can you tell us a little about your special interests?
I love archaeology and have been involved for several years with the Oswestry Castle Digs (Anglo-Norman). I’m particularly draw to the Viking and Romano-British eras. I’m (re)learning Latin. I’ve always shared my life with collies, usually rough collies, and feel lost without at least one in my life.
Anything else you would like to share?
I’m interested in crystals and usually have one with the Candle when I’m hosting the live stream.
What does being an Ambassador and hosting the Silent Minute mean to you?
Being an Ambassador is an honour and a privilege. I’m glad to be able to help and support our community.
